I'm really starting to regret installing patch 1.09

Since I've installed patch 1.09 the game has froze 7-8 times. I played the other night and it froze twice within the first 15-20 minutes, I would quite the game each time it happened and my ps3 would just restart it's self. This game never froze once until I installed patch 1.09, it's starting to get really frustrating.

Maybe try uninstalling it?

It's been a long time since I've messed with the PS3, but is there a way to just uninstall that update?

but it never froze until i installed patch 1.09. i had a character on patch 1.08 that i got up to level 68 and never froze once. im gonna try and delete the skyrim game data and reinstall it to see if it fixes the issue.

Don't know what to tell you. Just sayin' what has happened to me. Once I'm over level 60 it starts freezing (it might freeze lower, but not very often). If you have the DLCs it might affect something and I know that the Legendary function does it. It only gets worse the more I legendize things. Good luck.

Potentially memory issues. How cluttered is your save file? Are you hoarding things? Leaving items scattered about?

Other than that, I don't know since I am on the PC.

Good point. Especially on PS3 don't leave a lot of crap laying about and don't hoard.

the times that the game has froze the only items i had in the chest in my house were potions and items that im waiting to sell when my speech gets higher.

Don't know what to say. Do you have a lot of saves on your PS3? On my old PS3 (probably 6-8 years old?) I had serious issues because it had short storage capacity, but even on my new one with the 500GB save capacity, I find that, if I have a save with more than 12 (I think it's mb, but I could be wrong) on it, I'll freeze regularly. Generally I just save the one I'm working on on the machine for Skyrim and my others on my online storage. Other games that are saved don't seem to affect anything though. I also notice that, with the DLCs installed I get less freezes as well. My biggest freeze areas are around Riften and Whiterun. Don't know why.

My suggestion is to make sure to just keep the save you're currently on and to be sure to turn off all auto-save functions (although I keep the character menu one on for 15 minutes 'cause I always forget to save). You may also want to turn off your image smoothing and some of your dvd and mp3 playback options on the PS3. That helped me. Watch for stuttering. That's a sure sign that you're about to freeze.

i only have the 3 auto-saves for skyrim. the auto-saves are already 7mb and my character isn't even level 30 yet. how does the character menu save work? does it actually auto-save every 10-15 minutes or does it auto-save when you press circle to either level up, go to your items, ect.?

I think it only does it when you actually enter your character menu using the O. Especially when you get to higher levels it can end up being kind of momentum killing, but I have most everything on my favs menu anyhow so I don't have that big an issue.

what do you mean it can be momentum killing? because it take so long to save at higher levels? well, i deleted both the skyrim game data and the update and reinstalled both so im hoping the freezes stop

Yeah. The save itself, once your over level 60 can take 30-60 seconds to complete (just down time when you open your inventory when you can't do anything). Normally it's not an issue but it's a pain when you hit the button by mistake!

my favorite in skyrim is when I accidentally shout at the most inopportune time and everybody tries to kill me. Good times. Good times.
