I had a considerably less than epic experience with the grand finale of the College of Winterhold questline. Tolfdir, my companions and I stormed the college and most of us were paralyzed by Ancano's spell. When I realized that I was alone, I darted away from Ancano, hoping that I could get a good ranged shot in at him. And then he just utterly ceased paying attention to me. He seemed a lot more interested in punching the mound of unconscious bodies at his feet. He did this for the duration of the fight, even as I hit him with my spells from afar. The only time he ever paid attention to me was when I ran up to finish off his last little bit of health with my sword. It was so funny and ridiculous to watch this supposedly powerful mage engaging in fisticuffs with a bunch of stiffs.

I guess that just goes to show that he really did go mad with the power of Magnus!

Just in time for the fiyahworks show! BOOM!
I dunno. He always seemed intent to kill me with magic. The lovable bastard.

When I fought him, he was glitched into the door. I had to just flame the door so that whenever a bit of hand poked through I damaged him, hopefully enough that I wouldn't have to sit there for half an hour.

Ancano is such a disappointment. With me, those glowy white things ended up taking like half of his health and he was an easy kill after that. Very anticlimactic especially after having just faced a dragon priest.

I had a similar experience. There were creatures attacking ancano, so I just minded my own business until they all died. By that point he had little health left and I was able to finish him off with a couple of fire bolts.
