IRON CHALLENGE

Hi guys, it's raygc1, and i have a unique challenge. It's called the iron challenge.

n00b Rules:
.When you start the game,you can only pick up iron weapons and shields. Remove the tunic and footwraps until you can get some Iron Armor
.Use IRON WEAPONS AND ARMOR ONLY(Including followers)
.Since there isn't a bow that is improved by iron that i know of, you have to use a long bow.
.You can still make other weapons and armor, but you cannot use them. Sell them!
.You can play on any difficulty, but it's the funnest on Master.
.Enchanting AND Smithing is allowed, but you're a little girl with no life if you do.
.The ONLY exception is the banded Iron Shield and Banded Iron Armor. It uses Condornium ingots, but it's made MOSTLY with iron.

HARDCORE RULES:

Iron Items that can be used in the challenge: Iron Sword, Iron Mace, Iron Warhammer, Iron Arrow, Iron War Axe, Iron Dagger, Iron Battleaxe, Iron Greatsword, Iron Gauntlets, Iron Boots, Iron Helmet, Iron Armor, Banded Iron Armor, Iron Shield, Banded Iron Shield, Ancient Nord Armor set. Let me know if i missed any.

The reason why i made this challenge is because not a whole lot of people that I know of use Iron Armor for long periods of time. Also, Since it's not a super good armor, I'd like to see how well people can use iron. Probably tons, but it's still fun to challenge yourself this way.You can post how long it took to beat the main story with this challenge, I really don't care. I hope you have fun with this challenge!

That's for sure, Raygc1. That's a damn good challenge. I pick 'em off of dead people to sell only, not use. I'm a lvl 10 Orc, and in trying to stay true to the homeland, I'm planning on kitting myself out on Orc gear. My Orc ancestors would be most displeased if I did not. but your IRON idea? Yeah, that's what I'll use in my third playthrough. A destruction mage who shuns the magical robes, thus choosing iron armor and weapons. Should be good and challenging.

This is a clever challenge, and rather appropriate given that I'm pretty sure the canon Dovahkiin at least wears an iron helmet.

I made a set of Ancient Nord Armor at the Skyforge, does that count? its made with iron and steel and leather, but improved with iron.

Is the armor mostly made out of iron? If it is, go on ahead.

Sorry but you contradicted your self? You said IRON IGNOTS only yet you mentioned other ignots 'condornium'

ancient nord armor as the same AR as iron though, so from a practical point of view, it's the same.

I put on tavern clothes and walk around selling weopans between caravans

I only wear leather, as a principle. And all leather needed, i shoot myself with my long bow.

That is an exeption, because since Banded Iron Armor is mainly made out of iron, but uses a TINY bit of condornium. So it's OK.

If you are Smithing and Enchanting you can get Iron armor to the cap, and reach the magic resistance cap, so it doesn't matter whether or not you use it. If you want a challenge do it without Smithing or Enchanting.

I agree with Chryss and Perkecet, Ancient Nord armor has the same armor rating, so it should count toward the challenge. Speaking of it, I just learned a way you can obtain it very early in the game, not having to go through the Companions (SPOILER). Go to Morthal, then go East to Kjenstag Ruins, a ghost appears and runs away, kill it for a full set of Ancient Nord. I thought that was neat (/spoiler). Ancient Nord armor is upgraded with Iron ingots; however, it is influenced by the Daedric Smithing perk. At least it has a smithing perk, unlike Iron.

Remember, I said you can use it IF you want. If you're not good at challenges, then go ahead and enchant. After you've gotten much better at the game, then you can try it out without enchanting.
Also, some people might smith because it gets your armor and weapons awesome, but it's still a challenge because it's not one of the best armor types.

that's not true^^ it wouldn't be a challenge because iron, just like any armor, can be smithed to the armor cap. at that point it doesn't matter if you're wearing fur, iron, glass, or daedric, it's all the same once you pass the cap. also, if you're smithing that much your iron sword will be doing a silly amount of damage as well.

Can I imagine being level 43 and throwing all my perks into, 1H or 2H, archery, block and smithing? Using only iron? I think my enchantments would only come from items I found or purchased that were iron.

Yes, I can see doing this as my next nord warrior -- named the IRON GIANT!

I wonder if the stores still sell iron arrows when your level 43+?

you never need to buy iron arrows. you'll find thousands of them and continue to throughout the game.

Maybe the iron challenge should be changed so that you can't enchant or use alchemy. Therefore you could greatly improve iron yes, but you would have to get a very high heavy armour rating to reach the cap, and the. Weapon would be strong, but just strong enough with no enchanting....

I have an idea. There can be the n000b version of the Iron Challenge, and then there can be the Hardcore version of the iron challenge. I'll edit and repost.
