So, I've been thinking about for my newest playthrough for me to clear out a bandit fort or something and live there instead of buying an actual house. This, understandably, throws the whole marriage and adoption thing out the window, but whatevs.

Anyway, I'm sure some of you guys have done something similar, so if so I was wondering which forts you guys think would be the best to live in.

Crack Tusk Keep because the bandits dont respawn and all the containers are safe

I kinda like Cracked Tusk Keep for this.

Once you`ve done the quest that goes through there and cleared the place, the outside doesn`t respawn residents.
There`s a smithing station with a sack for storage on the table.
Bedrolls , more storage , and Alchemy Table are inside.

One or two Orcs may or may not respawn inside.
I`ve had different experiences but they are easy to kill if there.
Boss Ghunzul will respawn but he will sit at table in his little room and not come out if you don`t disturb him.

Clearing Northwatch Keep also works but it has less amenities

Also suggest checking out Mistwatch and Nilheim.
Each one has it`s own charms and neither will reset with bad guys.

You`ve got to spend a little time enduring Neloth , but the non-respawning Highpoint Tower on Solstheim is one to consider if you wish both Alchemy and Enchanting tables to be handy.

Ashfallow Citadel is similar in amenities .
More work to obtain it but you get a bonus house in Raven Rock for the trouble.

How do you backstab a Dragon?

One could always go hang out with those party-all-the-time Nords at the Thirsk Mead Hall.(an easy walk northeast)
Aside from the fine beverages:beermug: :vomit: , there`s a forge , Blacksmith , and Heavy Armor trainer.

Or you could burn red-grass with the Rieklings:cowboy: and trade with the Skaal
