As vampires go, Serena makes an awesome follower. Who better than a sexy kick-butt immortal?
I did run into an interesting scenario wherein one of Serena's spells went awry and hit Shadowmere. The two were thereafter locked in an endless battle until I mounted and rode off. By the time she caught up apparently their tempers had cooled.

My take:

I think you miss the point. Emotions will do you in every time. The vampires are about backstabbing, gaining power, betrayal and sinister motives. There is no loyalty or honor to be found. When Serana first returns home, she drops you for a reason. Truth be told, I'm surprised they didn't have Serana try to kill the dragonborn after the final battle with Harkon. That's what a true vampire would do. That said, I love playing a villainous character....

As for the dawnguard side, I've done the quest line as a companion and I find it works out wonderfully. Being a nord at their finest.

This is an unfair evaluation to all vampires. Not all of them are backstabbers, lust for power and will betray you. Not all of them have sinister motives. What do you mean that Serana "drops you"? Meaning that she went her separate ways? Of course she did because she returns home after her mother sealed her away, and that wasn't because she betrayed her daughter either. It was to keep her safe from her father. What did you expect her to do anyways? Follow you around like a lost puppy? Why would Serana try to kill you after the final battle with Harkon? The Dragonborn essentially saved her life. Its illogical to do such a thing like that.

IMHO Not unfair -- true. To me vampires are essentially deadra worshipers of Molag Bal, willing or unwilling. Even in the in-game book importal blood they betray.

As for Serana, I think its very logical for her to attack the Dragonborn. Hum... Her father betrays her mother. Her mother betrays her father. Both parents use her... Just my take.

I just have problems with believing she would go to the dawnguard castle to find the DB when a courier doesn't seem to have to much problem

She's been out of the loop for thousands of years. It is highly illogical she managed to get to Castle Dawnguard so easily and in such quick fashion anyways, unless she had a guide. Just sayin'.

LOL People betray each other all the time in the Elders Scrolls game... Vampire or not. It seems like a common trait.

You're not serious, are you? The vast majority of characters in Skyrim are either gullible text dumps or outright bad guys. Very few have a deceptive bone in their body. And fewer still actually know how to tell a lie.

It it too hard to comprehend that a vampire can be good and noble? well serana is. they are more then just Daedra Worshippers of Molag Bal hell half of the Vampires in Tamriel don't even worship Molag Bal?

Yes I'm serious :) It isn't right to judge an entire class over something the behavior of some.
Wtf are you talking about? I don't think you got the point of what I was trying to say.

It is irrelevant whether they worship him or not. As long as they are a vampire, their souls belong to him. Also, Serana is a worshipper of Bal, only later in the storyline does she change her mind.

I personally don't feel sorry for her, she was most likely born a Vampire so would have feasted on humans from a early age and who knows just how many years she was trapped in that tomb, how many humanoids has she herself killed or feasted on? She's like a pretty Hannibal Lecter!

Yes I know what you're trying to say :) And yes I actually agree with you that most of the NPCs are a wasteful text dumps, and don't have a very good AI. That is the fault of Bethesda for not upping their game and treating this game with respect that it deserves.

I don't view Vampires as menacing villains. Just because they live a different life that seems evil (By eating people and drinking their blood) doesn't make them evil. I call it the balance of life.
