i have been using the ebony blade for some some time

i have obtained both sweep and decapitaion perks for both one handed and two handed

yet sweep does not seem to work however it works with a normal greatsword

also i see no decapitations

also there is no 25 percent damage increase with standing power attacks

has anyone else tried the ebony blade

My friend, you are using an extremely glitched weapon. it is a two handed weapon that benefits from one handed perks. however still levels up your 2 hand. im sure there are also other problems with it, but seeing as bethesda wants to give us horseback fighting instead of fixing big issues like this i doubt it will ever be fixed.

thank you for the response

so for now the weapon is trash
basically but hold on to it. also do NOT put it on weapon racks. it will fall off and possibly disappear forever.

The Ebony Blade has bugged since release. Just get a normal ebony greatsword instead.

I've gotten decaps from it but rarely.

the only one-handed perks that affect the ebony blade are Armsman (all 5 lvls), Bladesman (all 3 lvls), and Fighting Stance.

the only two-handed perks that affect the ebony blade are devastating blow, great critical charge (which has worked for me but it's useless), sweep, and warmaster.

I've yet to get sweep and warmaster but so far all the other perks I listed worked.

by decaps you mean dismembered a limb or just thrusting the sword through the chest or something like that
also did you get 25 percent damage increase in standing attacks please compare with the forward power attack

Decaps as cutting their head off. Honestly all the NPCs I fight now are too high health to remember if there was a damage difference. All I can say is if you want to keep using the weapon you need to fortify one-handed your gear because the fact that I can't put it too the grindstone lowers the value of it being a main weapon to me.

i have just received the paralyzing strike one handed perk and the ebony blade causes paralysis with it
also warmaster perk two handed does not cause paralysis with ebony blade

can anyone confirm
almost all sites state that ebony blade should work with sweep and warmaster

also does any patch affect the blade

For decapitations, sneak assassinations and killing-blow animations, this seems to work for me:

1) Do NOT use a power attack. It seems like the power attacks animations keep you from executing a killing blow most of the time. Especially when attempting sneak attacks, and you know your first attack should kill the enemy outright.

2) Make sure your cross-hairs are dead-on the enemy. If you're off (like when attacking in 3rd person), you never get a kill-cam. EDIT: What I mean is, you can still get kill-cams in 3rd person, it's just a little harder to line-up the attack.

3) Just when about to deliver the final attack, use the first word in your Unrelenting Force shout to push the enemy back. This makes lining-up the killing blow much easier.

4) It's RAINING BLOOD.
