Assassin at your service
Oh, really? Well. That would've been quite useful to know this entire time. :p
Thank you!
Welcome :p
I learned about it in the manual 1 week into the game xD

New Assassin, and I want to ask a question about armor. PLEASE give details so I don't screw my assassin up. I want to know what armor would be the best for a PURE assassin, meaning no magic (except for Resto, I mean everyone needs that!) So yeah, out of all the Assassin Armors out there, what is the best? I am a Khajiit if it helps :p and yeah I am using bows and daggers, a combo!

If you want stats go for ancient shrouded armor.
Personally I like the nightingale armor for the looks because it's more Assassiny

spoilers below spoilers below.

The best easiest and quickest to get is the DB shrouded armour. You can go to Riften right out from the start and start the innocence lost quest by killing the woman that runs the orphanage before actually going to see the kid in windhelm, that way you have only got to see him once. Then just wait any any town, till you get the note, sleep and boom you are in the DB questline heading towards your free starting armour. That being said, later in that DB questline the ancient shrouded is a more powerful version of the same.

The reason why this is the best pure assassin armour is it improves your bow damage by 20% and doubles your 1hand sneak damage.

There are a few things you can get since gear doesn't have requirements to put on you can have it all and choose what you like. Darkbrotherhood armor, join there guild and get it. Or thieves guild and there are two, starting thief armor then nightingale. All ideal. Or Invest points into smithing and enchanting and make insane deadric armor with dual enchantments (its possible to be a gg sneaker with heavy armor)

GG=GoodGame (breaking the game)

I've posted a file to show what I'm working on as a dagger/bow illusion assassin. Yes, I know I could use daedric and ebony items, but I dont want to be running around one-hit killing everything on MASTER difficulty...sorry. Once you do the alchemy/enchant/smithing boost, the items I chose work out great! I've been lvl 81 about 10 times since 11-11-11 and 4 were with this build including my current.

I like the build, I just wanted to ask how do you play it? I had a Nightblade and didn't enjoy it as much so maybe I won't like it but I'll still try!

Sweet build, definitively trying! I will be using a Dark Elf though, my favorite class for sneaky characters :D

But nice job on the build!

Basically, I use my bow the most whenever I can. The only reason I took up silent roll was to transition from shadows easier. It also helps to get that throat just before the target turns around. As far as the rest goes, I right hand the Blade of Woe and usually invis. or paralyze in my left hand for my sneak attacks. When in crowded areas I dual wield fury spells to have them attack eachother and pop right back into invisibility...last one standing gets their throat slit! With my wood elf ability I cast it apon mammoths to make them kill any nearby giants so that I can cast soultrap on the mammoths to finish them off for their grand souls. Dual-wield I really only use when dragons land or in some dwarven areas, but in my left hand I have Mehrune's Razor for the 3-5% insta kill because when doing a dual-wield power attck the left hand swings twice. I didn't pick up Shadow Warrior because I just found it annoying. I prefer to use Shadowcloak of Nocturnal simply for getting away to heal or just avoiding certain areas for the time being. I also use it in towns incase I make a mistake or get caught and need to make a swift get-a-way.
I know there's things left out, but if you would like to know more and some better specifics then feel free to keep this going and I will try to help the best I can. If you want to know what I use to get to all the higher gear and weapons or how I trained up skills, feel free to ask. Thanks for the feedback btw!

Hey cool man, thanks and I'm glad it helped. It is a truely fun and awesome build to use. I don't even bother with the civil war or dragon storyline to be honest. I played to lvl 45 with this build my first time and had still never gone to the tower outside of Whiterun until around lvl 49-50! LoL
Have fun!

I made a dari elf female assassin, and I have 2 questions. 1. When will I need Archery? Since the sneak attack on dagger is much better should I have it? 2. I really love the look of Nightingale armor, so should I wear it or use the DB?

Personally, I went and got the DB suit ASAP and use that until I eventually finished the TG and got my Nightingale armor. If you don't use any Illusion magic, go with the DB armor or mix and match both to your liking. I go Nightingale for the looks lol and when wearing the full set it grants you an extra 25% armor rating along with any of the perks for light armor. You can pick up archery any time, the sooner the better I think for situations with few distant enemies and you don't need to sneak up on them. This is just all my opinion so I hope it helps you out a little :)

I chose the house in Riften. The thieves guild is right in town where you live. It's small and completely upgraded for about 12,000 gold. It has a kitchen and bedroom upstairs, alchemy and enchanting downstairs along with housecarl's room, a garden out front to the side of the house, and a backdoor leading to a porch and outside of Riften itself. Plus, as an elf assassin/thief character, the Rift is an awesome environment, and it really shows when you're adventuring there or even right when you step out on your porch and that first view you get...it's just awesome! lol

I read over your build again iTRY, and I am actually tempted to make one. I already have a 17 dark elf assassin, she has points in one handed sneak and archery. Would it be possible to convert my character to you build? The reason i am a bit reluctant is because i have tried the Nightblade build and was very mad when it took me a long time just to kill 3 bandits. Any more tips for yiu build?

If you use the EXACT perks I listed for the build, you will be awesome at close-range with dual-daggers, be able to snipe multiple enemies before they even know what's going on with Steady Hand(2), and the Illusion is incredible...dual-wield frenzy and cast into big groups until they kill eachother off and only one is left, then snipe with a bow from the shadows or cast Pacify on him/her/it and go in for the sneak attack throat-slit! With the perks I chose in Enchanting, Alchemy, and Smithing you can craft seperate suits when all maxed out that will let you upgrade the gear I listed to really high stats(call it cheating or what have you). This makes it possible to use just the Nightingale armor and weapons without ever using ebony or daedric, and STILL be brutally owning everything on Expert-Master difficulty but still have that "challenge" you want/need. It's fun because you can switch-up your play style at any time and really get into the game and character itself.
As far as the Vampire part...choose the Necromage perk because you are technically undead as a Vampire so all/most Active Effects get an extra 25%(i.e. the enchants on weapons and armor, beneficial potions and spells, etc.)
Keep healing, stamina, and magicka potions handy, but for the most-part when you get WIND WALKER perk your stamina is good to go aswell as RECOVERY for your magicka. Health is up to your jewelry enchants and on you personally because if you play the build right, you will rarely be getting hit beyond anything you can't just potion or use novice healing spells
The Alteration is for paralyze, detect life, detect dead, water-breathing(for sunken ship treasures and what-not), and stoneflesh for when dual-wielding multiple targets.
I hope this helps. If you have chosen perks for yout elf and wont be able to match my build, send me a copy of what all you have picked already and I will try to make you a build like mine and work with what you already have, no problem. :)

I am waiting to transition to Vampire aswell, because I'm waiting for Dawnguard to release for the simple fact that once you become a Vampire Lord, Level 4 vampires are no longer attacked on sight due to Vampire Lord taking it's place, so therefore I think it will be much easier to manage being a vampire and still get all my quests done without it slowing down my gameplay or getting gang-raped the minute I load into a town lol

You might benefit more once the DLC is released but I can't say for sure sorry. With health stamina and magicka I go with this:
  1. Magicka
  2. Stamina
  3. Health
I say magic first because of your Illusion and Alteration and some Restoration. Stamina second for more power attacks when dual-wielding and for longer "zoom-in" for Steady Hand when using the bow. Health third for the simple fact you won't/shouldn't be getting hit too many times or enough to really hurt you. I'd say for every 3 Magicka do 2 Stamina and 1 Health :)
