Square-Enix has released its first batch of official screenshots for Dragon Quest 11, the next entry in Japan’s favorite RPG series.
The game has been announced for Playstation 4 and 3DS. The below screenshots are taken from the Playstation 4 version of the game. Square did list Nintendo’s NX in the number of consoles Dragon Quest 11 would be released for, but Nintendo made them clam up fast on that end, and their new statement regarding that version is they’re “considering it.”
Now here are some screens from the 3DS version, where they’re doing something a bit different. The handheld version of Dragon Quest 11 will be both modern and retro, with the top screen rendered in top-notch cel-shaded graphics and the bottom screen displaying the same events, only in the classic 16-bit style. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but despite how pretty the PS4 version is looking, I think I’d prefer the 3DS version just for that gimmick.
Gotta love it. Dragon Quest 11 is still early and has no release date in any region.
