  • More News On Final Fantasy XV Coming Next Week Currently Square-Enix is planning to hold a press conference before E3, but we may hear a bit of news from the company before then.
Square announced today it would be broadcasting another Active Time Report on June 4. The director of Final Fantasy XV, Hajime Tabata will be hosting and will provide “development updates” on the game’s progress. Also appearing in the live stream will be global marketing manager Akio Ofuji.
Exactly what will be discussed in the stream has not been revealed, but it may have something to do with the updated version of the Final Fantasy XV demo, Episode Duscae ...
  • Crypt of the NecroDancer Gets Mega Man Mod Crypt of the NecroDancer, which was released last month, is a roguelike sprite-based dungeon crawler with a twist: it’s also a rhythm game. To progress, you not only have to bop monster after monster, but hop constantly to the beat of whatever music is being played in the dungeon. This music could be anything — you can import your own MP3s into the game.
I’m telling you this not just because it’s a good game, but because someone’s created a mod for it that replaces every graphic and sprite in the game with Mega Man characters. You can play as Mega ...
  • Watch Out For Witcher 3 Bug On Xbox One It may be debatable which version of Witcher 3 is superior, but we do know which one currently ranks at the bottom. Some players of the new action RPG on the XBox One platform have reported running into an evil glitch that corrupts save files.
Most people are running into this glitch by leaving the XBox One in suspension mode for a few hours, though a scant few have had it happen out of nowhere (triggered after dying) and others theorize the glitch may arise during a specific mission. But most agree leaving the game suspended for an extended period of ...
  • What Is The Best Version of Witcher 3? The PC version. Duh. What else were you expecting?
Of course, that conclusion is only correct if you’re running a PC powerful enough to render the graphics of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt at their maximum setting. If your computer is a few years old with no upgrades, either of the console versions of the game will probably look better. Or if you’re not a PC gamer, the mere factor of playing the game on a sofa is going to make all the difference.
So between the two console versions — Playstation 4 and XBox One — which runs better? Eurogamer’s Digital ...
  • Toyota Sells Cars In Japan With Chocobos For all the recent doom and gloom talk about the future of Japan’s game industry, it’s nice to know traditional console games remain in their public conciousness strongly enough to merit selling yellow cars with the Chocobo theme.
Kotaku called attention to this Japanese car ad this morning, which uses the recognizable country-styled tune that has appeared in almost every title of the Final Fantasy series. The car in question is the Aqua, which is the Japanese name for the Prius C in the United States.

This is actually NOT the first time a car company has used RPG music in its ...
  • Witcher 3 A Smash With Critics Today is the day The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is released both in digital form and inside brick-and-mortars across America, and its reception so far is a lot grander than what the previous two Witchers received.
Kimberley Wallace of Game Informer gave it a 9.75 out of 10 and said: “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt encompasses what I hope is the future of RPGs. It stands out for its wonderful writing, variety of quests and things to do in the world, and how your choices have impact in interesting ways. Usually something is sacrificed when creating a world this ambitious, but ...
  • What XBox Boss Has To Say About JRPGs On XBox One Recently on Twitter, XBox head Phil Spencer was asked if there was anything coming the XBox One’s way that was in the way of a JRPG. His reply was that if people want the genre, they should “keep asking.” The tweet in full stated, “It’s a good and fair question. Keep asking until we show you something you like. I can’t share specific plans now, sorry.”
This is not the first JRPG-specific question Spencer has received or replied to. In November 2014 he outright promised a tweeter that “you will see JRPGs on XBox One.”
Maybe Phil knows something I don’t, but ...
  • Divinity: Original Sin Getting Upgraded Console Release Last year a critically acclaimed RPG named Divinity: Original Sin came out for the PC. Now the game’s developer, Larian Studios, has announced today that due to the game’s success, enhanced console versions are being created for current-gen platforms like Playstation 4 and XBox One, as well as a beefed-up PC version you’ll need a strong CPU to handle.
More than just the graphics have been upgraded in Divnity: Original Sin. The enhanced version of the game will contain full voice acting with the pipes of Alix Wilton Regan and Alec Newman, several new endings, a new interface designed for controller ...
  • Square Enix Blinks, Shifts E3 Conference to 10 AM The JRPG factory Square-Enix, one of the few remaining in the world, originally scheduled their big E3 conference for June 16th at 9 AM. This was, traditionally, the time and date that Nintendo usually scheduled their conference. What did Nintendo do? Make their usual schedule, on top of Square’s, and imply “Whatcha gonna do about it?”
After several days, Square finally responded today by moving their conference up one hour. Then they sheepishly gave Nintendo their lunch money.
Square has not revealed anything about what they intend to show at the conference, but this is the first time in many years that ...
  • Dragon Quest 8 To Get 3DS Port Check this out. Dragon Quest 8, the Playstation 2 game that remains the highest-selling title in the series for North America (that Final Fantasy demo might have had something to do with it) is about to be shrunk, rendered in three dimensions and released on the 3DS.
In addition to portability, the remastered game will carry various improvements like an orchestral score. “An orchestral score?? I want!” you might say. You already got it. The international release of DQ8 back in 2004 contained that score, which wasn’t finished in time for the Japanese release.
If you want this version of the game ...
