  • TGS 2015 Brings New Final Fantasy XV Trailer We were wondering where this was. Square-Enix has finally put out their Tokyo Game Show Final Fantasy XV Trailer, entitled “Dawn 2.0.”
    https://youtu.be/-g1CwNw2i88
Unlike the previous trailers, which have focused on Noctis driving around with his bros, this one finally sheds some light on his relationship with his love interest, Luna. Square says, “This is an updated trailer that depicts protagonists Noctis and Luna as they reflect on the tragic events of their respective pasts, which set the stage for the narrative of Final Fantasy XV. Players will catch a glimpse of the fateful duo’s internal strife as Luna struggles against the ...
  • TGS Brings New Details On Ace Attorney 6 ace attorney 6The sixth game in the Ace Attorney series was announced a couple months ago, and the press got to experience it firsthand today via a demo available at Tokyo Game Show.
There’s good news — that “Apollo Justice” joker is nowhere to be seen in this demo. Instead you’re playing as good ol’ Phoenix again, and this time, he appears to be in Maya’s country of origin: Kurain. Initially there on a visit, Phoenix’s child tour guide winds up accused of theft and murder, and only Phoenix can keep him out of prison.

Phoenix is the only one because nobody else in ...

  • We Now Know How The Last Guardian Will Appear At TGS the last guardianYes, I said “how,” not “where,” because the cryptic tweet that hinted at The Last Guardian’s appearance was a bit misleading. The Last Guardian, the game, may not have any new footage at Tokyo Game Show. But the Last Guardian itself will be in attendance. (Assuming the creature is the Last Guardian and not the boy.)
Some new tweets went out from genDesign confirming the plans. genDesign is the name of the studio making the game. They revealed a special theater will be set up to screen The Last Guardian and outside, Trico, the griffin-thing shown in The Last Guardian’s game ...
  • Atlus Announces “Cryamore” For 2016 cryamoreRPG publisher Atlus has announced a new title for digital release: Cryamore, by the indie development studio NostalgiCO.
Cryamore was brought to life through a Kickstarter campaign in February 2013 that raised $240,000 (out of a $60,000 funding goal). Since then, like most ambitious indie games of its type, it’s had to struggle to stay in production. Atlus’s involvement will assure it stays on track and sees release next year. Gameplay looks to be Mana-esque, which is a good thing. If we don’t get the Seiken remake in the US, we’ll at least get this.
The main reason I knew what this ...
  • The Original Mana Game To Be Remade On Vita seikenThe Mana series is referred to as Seiken Densetsu in Japan. Seiken Densetsu 2 was retitled Secret of Mana when it came out for the SNES in 1993. It still remains one of the Super’s best games. And Seiken Densetsu 1 was also one of its system’s best games….when it came out on the Game Boy. Yes, the Mana series started there, where it was renamed “Final Fantasy Adventure” in the States for brand recognition purposes. (In Europe it was renamed “Mystic Quest,” no relation to the dumbed-down FF game from around the same time period.)
Final Fantasy Adventure remains one ...
  • Gameplay From Square’s Project Setsuna Shown At TGS project setsunaUntil Tokyo Game Show happened, all anyone knew about Square-Enix’s mysterious new property, called Project Setsuna, was that it starred a female and it had “themes of sadness.”
Today we were finally given a glimpse of what Square has in mind, and it looks like the kind of game they haven’t produced for some time, at least for a big console like the PS4. It’s an RPG from a top-down perspective, with all members of the party visible, following behind you in a straight line. Monsters are fought in turn-based battles, there’s an overworld with tiny towns and trees, and from ...
  • Star Ocean 5 Gains Japanese Release Date star ocean 5One of the many announcements made today at Sony’s Tokyo Game Show press conference was a release date for Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness, or Star Ocean 5.
Japanese gamers can expect it February 25, 2016. Like most Star Ocean games, this one is a Playstation exclusive. The only two to break that rule have been #1 (which debuted on the Super Nintendo back when there wasn’t a Playstation) and #4, which showed up first on the XBox 360 before an expanded version made its way to Playstation 3.
Along with this announcement was the debut of a new trailer for the ...
  • The Rumors Are True: Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Announced By Square kingdom heartsLast week the title of an unannounced stopgap game for the Kingdom Hearts series was leaked: “Kingdom Hearts 2.9.” It appears the final version of that title was moved one-tenth of a number, but otherwise, everything looks to be as reporters guessed.
Just like everyone figured, the disc will include a PS4 remake of Dream Drop Distance, the Kingdom Hearts 3DS game. It’ll also contain Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover, and something else no one predicted: a brand new chapter connecting to Birth By Sleep, the PSP KH game that was remade back in Kingdom Hearts 2.5. Titled Kingdom Hearts 0.2: ...
  • The Western Version Of Dragon Quest Heroes Comes With All DLC Free dragon quest heroesIt took quite a while for Sqaure-Enix to make up its mind on whether to localize Dragon Quest Heroes in the West or not — so long that by this point, all the DLC for the Japanese version of the game has been released. The good news for us is that, thanks to circumstances, we won’t have to pay.
When Dragon Quest Heroes releases in America this fall, all released content will be included on the disc — including the material that was DLC-exclusive in Japan. You’ll get it all, for the original price!
It won’t all be available at once, however. ...
  • We May See New Footage Of The Last Guardian At TGS the last guardianThe Last Guardian, long thought to be an abandoned game despite Sony’s insistence that it was active, made a surprise appearance during the last E3. Since then people have been hungry for new footage, and Fumito Ueda, the game’s long-standing director, may be about to provide just that.
Ueda hinted as much when he tweeted a new photo from the game today: it’s the foot of Trico, the massive birdlike griffin-creature that the game centers around, behind a cage. “We are thinking about how to take Trico to the Makuhari (in a new and different way),” Ueda said. Makuhari is the ...
