  • Cancelled Fire Emblem Game Would Have Been “Much Like Pikmin” fire emblemYou may be waiting for Dark Horse’s upcoming Fire Emblem: Awakening artbook, but the Japanese already have something better(don’t they always?): a 25th anniversary FE artbook detailing production secrets on all the games in the series, including many that weren’t released here. But there’s one page that isn’t about any game released at ALL: it deals with a Fire Emblem that was cancelled mid-development and never released.
A scan of the page, showing off sketches and designs from the vapor sequel, is now circulating the Net, translated by the Wordpress blog Kantopia….

Kantopia also translated an interview with Fire Emblem series veteran ...

  • Fallout 4 Has Now Been Beaten Without A Single Kill fallout 4One of the complaints some have had with Fallout 4 is that it seems to kowtow to the dudebro demands of the modern AAA market by making shootouts mandatory. Some fans have responded by trying to find ways to get through the game with as few kills as possible, with the ultimate goal of discovering the zero-kill path. Now someone has done it, and his name is Kyle Hinckley.
Semantics are important here: Kyle beat this game without the Pip Boy tallying a single kill on its monitor. That doesn’t mean nobody had to die in the process. The game is ...
  • FFXIII’s Lightning Being Used To Sell Purses In Japan FFXIIIThe character of Lightning was never very popular in America or anywhere else outside of Japan, but that sure didn’t stop Square from making two extra games out of FFXIII, one of which was entirely about Lightning and no one else. The reason? Well….she was fairly popular in her home country. Enough so that she’s now been licensed to sell purses.

The designer handbag company Louis Viutton has begin using Lightning to sell its new line of purses. Nicolas Ghesquiere, the artistic director behind the ad, tweeted a stereotypical fashion designer statement: “Reality and fantasy become one. Lightning a genuine heroine ...
  • Witcher 3 Mod Lets You Play As Yennefer, Ciri And More yenneferModder ParKan has created a patch for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt that will allow you to play as Yennefer of Vengerburg instead of Geralt. Ciri, Triss and Shani are also options….you can play as any major female in the game. She’ll move the same way Geralt does and use the same weapons.
This won’t be a perfect fit. The mod only swaps out Geralt’s rig for the woman of your choice, so she’s going to sound a bit….gruff and man-like since that part can’t really be changed. Neither can the general storyline, so at one point there will be two ...
  • “The Art Of Fire Emblem Awakening” Coming From Dark Horse fire emblem awakeningNo sooner does Fire Emblem Fates arrive in stores than an artbook covering the previous game arrives as well. As you might imagine, it was originally written in Japan a long time ago — 2012. We won’t get it until AFTER Fates comes out — its targeted release date is July 26, 2016. Better late than never.
“The Art of Fire Emblem Awakening contains an in-depth, behind-the-scenes look at the smash-hit 3DS game, from beautifully illustrated renditions of your favorite characters, to storyboards for in-game events, character designs, weapon designs, character profiles, and the entirety of the script with every possible ...
  • In Fire Emblem Fates You’ll Be Allowed To Date….Your Brother fire emblem fatesNintendo has taken heat from a certain end of the Internet for cutting a certain feature out of Xenoblade Chronicles X: namely, a very skimpy erotic outfit for one of its characters. The character happened to be a 13-year-old girl. There were those who cried “Censorship!!” at this but, uh, I think I fully understand this one. If you’re sore about it, you’ll be happy to know a feature of Fire Emblem Fates that could be very controversial has been left in: you’ll be able to date many characters in the game, and this includes those from your own family.
    Thing ...
  • New Behind-The-Scenes Documentary Out Now For “Pillars of Eternity” pillars of eternityYou hear a lot about crowdfunding projects that fail to meet their goals, don’t turn in a satisfactory product, or just turn out to be scams. The development team received more than enough cash, they rewarded all their backers, they turned in the great game they promised AND it was good enough to become one of the most popular Steam games of 2015? That’s the story of Pillars of Eternity, the RPG from Obsidian Entertainment that now has a behind-the-scenes documentary based on it.
In “The Road to Eternity,” ...

  • Will The Final Fantasy VII Remake Have An Open World Map? final fantasy viiIt’s one of the loudest questions fans are asking. Now that we know the Final Fantasy VII Remake will be divided into chapters, are we still getting that beautiful open world to explore upon escaping Midgar, or will it be disappointingly changed into a series of linear paths?
Today the Japanese gaming magazine Dengeki published a short question-and-answer session with the game’s director, Tetsuya Nomura and its producer, Yoshinori Kitase. The interview was translated and put online by the website Gematsu. One of the questions the magazine asked was whether we were getting an open world map or not, and Kitase ...
  • Square’s Christmas Gift: New Gameplay Footage From Kingdom Hearts 3 kingdom hearts 3This is cruel to point out, but it has actually been TEN YEARS since the last proper Kingdom Hearts game. Kingdom Hearts 2 was released for the Playstation 2 back in 2005, and fans have been left mostly dry ever since, having to sustain themselves on portable-sized spinoffs while the story spun its wheels and became a lot more convoluted in the process. In 2013 Kingdom Hearts 3 was confirmed at last, and today we have actual gameplay footage to show you. These are areas we’ve seen before, and essentially animated versions of recent screenshots we’ve gotten (we get to ...
