  • Final Fantasy XIV Might Be Coming To XBox One final fantasy xivIt had a rocky beginning, but Final Fantasy XIV has remained steady on Playstation 3, Playstation 4 and PC since 2013. Now Square’s MMO could be growing further, as rumor has it an XBox version of the game could finally become a possibility.
What held up FFXIV’s release on XBox One was the lack of cross-platform play. Three years ago, it was unheard of on the console. Now, however, Microsoft is much more open to the idea and has already allowed it for several third-party games.
“Microsoft actually approached the Final Fantasy 14 team about the cross-platform opportunity,” director Naoki Yoshida said ...
  • E3 2016: Dragon Quest VII For 3DS Almost Wasn’t Released Here dragon quest viiDragon Quest VII originally came out for the Playstation in 2001. Now a new version with upgraded visuals (and stereoscopic 3D) is heading to the 3DS this September, thanks to a localization partnership between Square and Nintendo.
The Nintendo Treehouse spent a half-hour’s time with Dragon Quest VII at E3 along with members of the development team. One of the more interesting things they mentioned had nothing to do with the gameplay at all: this version of DQ VII almost never made it outside Japan.

The team from Square mentioned that there were no plans for the company to release Dragon Quest ...
  • E3 2016: Star Ocean 5 Has Several New Trailers star ocean 5The majority of games being shown off at E3 are slated for the fall or later, but you can have Star Ocean 5 in less than two weeks. I’m grateful there’s at least one non-Final Fantasy property Square isn’t willing to banish to phones just yet. Star Ocean 5 contains everything fans come back for: non-realistic stylized characters, the rarely-used sci-fi setting, real-time battles, and of course, customization and item-crafting out the wazoo. If you’re smart enough in some of these games you can make yourself invincible.
This is the launch trailer, released for E3. It remains to be seen if ...
  • E3 2016: Eight-Minute Persona 5 Preview persona 5Atlus invited the press to preview eight minutes of clips from the new Persona 5. Unfortunately the English translation is still a work in progress, so the entirety of the footage was in Japanese. Even worse, they provided no method of directly capturing the video, so IGN had to record the screen to bring everyone this:

Looks pretty great, doesn’t it? You’ll have to wait until Valentine’s Day 2017 to find out how great. Persona 5 is one of the few games present at this year’s E3 that will also have a last-gen version — since it was originally developed for ...
  • E3 2016: Final Fantasy XV’s Fights Contain A Breather Option Square-Enix broadcast a livestream of Final Fantasy XV today, and director Hajime Tabata was present. About fifty minutes into the playthrough, he mentioned that some features in the game were a result of player feedback, and that they were watching one such feature at the moment: battles in the game can be paused.
Tabata says the feature was added due to the common comment that many players were frustrated with the ATB battle system and that it did not provide them enough time to think. The FFXV dev team’s solution was Wait Mode, which can be turned on in the options ...
  • According to Bethesda, All Existing Mods Will Work With Skyrim Remastered skyrim remasteredE3 broke the news that Skyrim was coming to current-gen consoles, and that mods would be allowed. Presumably, all existing mods would have to be ported or reconfigured to work with the new versions, right? …Wrong. Bethesda says they should all work with no modifications. Pete Hines, who works for the company, was asked this question on Twitter and replied “Basically, yes.”
Quite the feat if they can pull it off. But does the mod community agree it could happen? For the most part they do.
“The only thing that will need porting/updating is Skyrim Script Extender,” says MichaGhost, who’s working on ...
  • E3 2016: New Final Fantasy XV Trailer Reveals Playstation VR Function final fantasy xvTonight during Sony’s E3 presentation, Square’s solitary trailer revealed Final Fantasy XV will be compatible with Playstation VR….however, it doesn’t look like they mean the full game. It’s doubtful they would have had time to rewire everything to fit the new device anyway, so they’ve thrown in a few minigames and tasks that can be rendered on the goggles.
Using Playstation VR you can play as Prompto, one of Noctis’s friends, in “Final Fantasy XV: VR Experience,” or what looks to be a special area meant for practice monster battling. We saw more of their mechanic friend Cidney here than we’ve ...
  • E3 2016: First Big Look At Platinum Games’ Scalebound The E3 conference from Microsoft felt mostly underwhelming, except for the part where the president of Platinum Games came on stage and said “This is the largest boss battle we’ve ever created.” If you’re familiar with Platinum’s past work, which always goes for the extreme, this is quite the statement. I immediately sat up.
We haven’t seen much of Scalebound since its introduction two E3s ago — they were biding their time, waiting to spring this great scene upon us. It was a co-op battle where four players riding dragons took turns whittling away the HP of an IMMENSE crab-creature in ...
  • E3 2016: Yes It’s True, Gwent Is Going Solo gwentA week ago, a European trademark filing was spotted that pointed to the creation of a stand-alone title for Gwent, the card game previously playable only within The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. It was legit: today during Microsoft’s E3 conference, the first trailer appeared.
Gwent: The Witcher Card Game works a lot like other card-collecting apps. Online card duels will be supported cross-platform between consoles and the PC. This feature, however, is rare: Gwent will also contain a single-player Campaign Mode. Gameplay is pretty much Gwent — if you’ve played the game in Witcher 3, you should be ready to play ...
  • E3 2016: Newly Revealed Battle Scene From Final Fantasy XV final fantasy xvFew people were expecting Final Fantasy XV’s first E3 appearance to be during the Microsoft conference, but that’s what happened. We expect much more of this game to be shown during Sony’s conference later this evening, but for now, enjoy this fight against a giant hand.
    https://youtu.be/NQ-gaj0xKHU
This was one of two battles against gargantuan titans shown off during Microsoft’s presentation, the other one belonging to Scalebound (we’ll be getting to that game soon). Despite its scale, this behemoth must not be very strong if it can be taken down by a miniscule Noctis repeatedly stabbing its hand.
As for the context of ...
