  • So Much Fire Emblem Is Coming Your Way fire emblemIt’s never been a better time to be into Nintendo’s Fire Emblem series. This week the company unveiled a total of FOUR upcoming titles during a special livestream event.
First they revealed the next 3DS game, Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia. The game is a remake of Fire Emblem Gaiden, the second FE game ever released, back in the days of the NES/Famicom. American and European audiences never got this game, and it’s somewhat different from what FE fans in the West are used to. There are dungeon-crawling sections, and the difficulty is higher. When Fire Emblem echoes is released, ...
  • Atlus Bringing Utawarerumono Games To The West UtawarerumonoIt’s quite a mouthful: “Utawarerumono.” It’s pronounced the way it’s spelled, but it’s better to read with the syllables separated: Uta-wa-re-ru-mono. Atlus is currently translating two PS4 games under that name to bring them to America later this year.
Utawarerumono is a franchise spanning games, manga and anime, but it started as a game: a visual novel released back in 2002. There was no visual novel market in America, so we never got our own version of it….but the manga and anime were translated anyway. This will be the first time Utawarerumono is seen around these parts in interactive form.
    These games ...
  • Elder Scrolls Online May Be Getting Vvardenfell Soon An Elder Scrolls Online fan has gone datamining through the latest version of the game and believes he knows what region Bethesda is going to be adding next: Vvardenfell from Elder Scrolls Morrowind.
Redditor “FloorBelow” has found tilesets within the code for Hiaalu, Redoran, Telvanni, Vivec and Molag Mar, as well as data for Dwemer ruins and Dunmer strongholds. From his post:
That covers pretty much every architectural style in Morrowind, except for Imperial towns and castles, which don’t exist since Morrowind isn’t an Imperial colony yet. Oddly, Seyda Neen does exist, and is using custom assets that make it look exactly ...
  • Aha! Sega Of Europe Registers “Shenmue HD” Domain shenmueWith Shenmue 3 under development by Yu Suzuki and the original team, now would be the perfect time to re-release the first two games under a budget price and attract a new audience. After all, the three Shenmue games are supposed to tell a complete story and as it is, the first two thirds of that story are currently locked away on aging consoles not too many people are willing to plug in again. it would make perfect sense to re-release Shenmue — but as we know by now, bi companies don’t always decide to do sensible things.
    We’ve received a ...
  • Just To Remove All Doubt, Persona 5 is NOT Coming To Switch In case you forgot, Atlus merged with Sega a few months ago. The PR manager representing both companies, John Hardin, spoke about future release plans on his Twitter account today. You know by now that Persona 5 should be due out sometime in 2017 for the Playstation 4. but what about other machines? Could we see a port on some other system, like…I don’t know…the Nintendo Switch?
Having a portable Persona 5 would be nifty. However, the Persona series hasn’t left the Playstation brand for ages, and according to Hardin, this isn’t going to change. When asked about getting the game ...
  • Atlus Launches Studio Zero; Brand New RPG In Development atlusHere’s a Christmas surprise — Atlus has launched an internal studio named Studio Zero to develop new projects within the company. The first of these, tentatively titled “Project Re Fantasy,” is described as a throwback to the Japanese RPGs of yore, much like Square’s I Am Setsuna was (released earlier this year).
The game is far too early in development for any specific details (not even what system you’ll be playing it on), and the first “trailer” below is pretty darn vague. But we do have concept art, seen above, and this press release, seen below.
    IRVINE, Calif. – Dec. 23, 2016 ...
  • New Dragon Quest 11 Trailers: Confirmed For PS4, 3DS And Switch dragon quest 11Square-Enix has ripped the curtain off the next Dragon Quest game, which will be the first in the main series since Dragon Quest 8 to appear on a non-Nintendo console. Yup, #9 and #10 have been Wii, Wii U and 3DS exclusives. Nine was recently localized and sold in the US, but there are no plans to create an English version of DQ 10, since all things branded “Wii” are dead. (DQ 10 is bring ported to the Switch now; we’ll see if that changes anything.)
At Jump Festa, a Japanese expo of anime and manga, Square showed off two videos ...
  • Confirmed North American Release For Valkyria Revolution valkyria revolutionA few months ago we told you about a new effort by Sega to bring back the cult strategy series Valkyria Chronicles. The first game came out on the PS3 and two sequels were released for the PSP (one of them did not make it Stateside due to low sales, sadly). Fans figured that was the end until this year, when Sega put out a remastered Valkyria Chronicles on PS4 (with a Steelbook case!) and even announced a new Valkyria series.
Titled Valkyria Revolution, it’s not going to be the same as the first three. Sega says it’s more of a ...
  • Skyblivion: Oblivion In Skyrim! skyblivionWhat do you get when the worlds of Skyrim and Oblivion combine? Skyblivion, that’s what. A group of modders known as the TES Renewal Project have been working on building the previous Elder Scrolls worlds into Skyrim to create one large super-world spanning the entire Elder Scrolls series. It’s not the kind of task that can be completed overnight, but as their latest video proves, they’ve been making good progress.

To end this year on a high note I wanted to show you all how far the Skyblivion project has come during its development cycle, we still have allot of work ...
  • Final Fantasy XV Gets A “Story Patch” final fantasy xvMost games these days get patched post-release, especially the AAA expensive ones. It’s no shock that Final Fantasy XV is getting an update….the surprising part is that Square is tweaking the storyline with it. Here are the words of Director Hajime Tabata:
We want you to enjoy Final Fantasy XV for a long time to come. We have been listening to your ideas on how to make the game experience even better, and so in addition to the previously announced content, we’ll be providing free updates to the game throughout the coming year.
Our early plans are to enrich certain aspects of ...
