I doubt this is an all-time record, but it’s pretty impressive: the PSP version of Breath of Fire 3, originally created in 2005, will finally be sold digitally in North America for PSP, PS Vita and Playstation TV. This marks a little over ten years since the English translation was finished.
The original Breath of Fire and its sequel were released for the Super NES, while Breath of Fire 3 first came out on the Playstation 1 in all regions. A few years later Capcom upped the graphics and created a PSP port, but the English version was only released in Europe. For whatever reason, Americans were left dry.
Capcom has not announced a release date for the US Breath of Fire 3, but assured gamers it was on the way. “We’ve got a special treat for you today; we’re happy to announce that Breath of Fire III is coming to PSN as a downloadable PSP game! We’ll have a few more details closer to launch, but you’ll be able to snag the game for $9.99 (USD) this February, and the game itself will be fully compatible with all hardware that plays digital PSP content.”
To date the Breath of Fire series has had five installments, the last of which was on the Playstation 2. There is a sixth Breath of Fire in the works, but……it’s for phones so it doesn’t count.
