For anyone who’s a fan of Shadow of Mordor, your day has just been made, as a sequel to the popular game set in the Lord of the Rings universe has gotten a sequel in the form of Middle-Earth: Shadow of War.
Here is the debut trailer:
As you can see, players will once again take control of characters Talion and Celebrimbor, though they have a falling out of sorts as the trailer notes. The game promises to be bigger and better than Shadow of Mordor, and you will face not only the armies of the dark land of Mordor, but also Sauron himself this time.
For those who were fans of the Nemesis system, that too will be returning, but in an expanded form. Also, there will be a new “Followers” system, that was explained a bit in the press release for the game:
“Followers […] bring about entirely new stories of loyalty, betrayal and revenge. The Nemesis System is also expanded to create a unique personal world through Nemesis Fortresses, which allows players to utilize different strategies to conquer dynamic strongholds and create personalized worlds with their unique Orc army.”
Middle-Earth: Shadow of War is set to release on August 22nd, with a gameplay reveal trailer coming March 8th.
