Any Kingdom Hearts 3 News Is Good News

by on November 4, 2015

Square-Enix, in their unyielding generosity, has released ONE solitary screenshot from Kingdom Hearts 3 today. That’s it up there, but let’s take a closer look:

What’s the significance of this? This Shooting Ride looks a lot like the Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters ride at Disneyland. We’ve been waiting for confirmation that Pixar characters can appear in KH3, and this might be Square’s subtle way of alluding to it without actually alluding to it.

Square also released two other screenshots today, both from the upcoming Kingdom Hearts 2.9 Final Chapter Prologue, which contains remastered versions of Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance and Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep. Below is the Dream Drop Distance shot, depicting all the characters in the series on one screen, ready to kick some butts:

And this would be the Birth by Sleep shot, showing King Mickey, Riku, and Kairi having a conversation with Yen Sid (the sorcerer from Fantasia that Mickey apprenticed under). If you haven’t seen this before, there’s a reason: it’s a new chapter that will only be in this compilation. So at least we get something fresh to chew on while we wait.

Kingdom Hearts 3 is still in development and has no release date. Neither does the compilation, but you can likely expect it in a few months.
