If you were looking forward to playing Tales of Symphonia on PC at last, you might want to hold off on that Steam purchase if you haven’t already made it. Numerous complaints are emerging from unsatisfied customers who say the port has quite a few problems — and not all of them are bug-related.
Some people are miffed that the game is locked at 30 FPS and doesn’t run any faster even if your rig is capable of it — it would seem that an RPG that originated on the Gamecube would have no problem pushing 60. Others have reported the game bugging out when the user switches between the running program and a separate one, and users who speak different languages have found the French or Spanish options only work part of the time (see the menu above).
This last one appears to be entirely Namco’s fault, as there are also typos present in the menus like “Game Contorols” and other times text boxes can appear completely empty. Bandai Namco has yet to respond to the complaints — there is no word yet on a patch, or if some of the grievances like the frameate will be addressed at all. We’ll let you know.
