Ever heard of Corpse Party, the super-grim adventure horror game full of twists, turns and dismemberments? It created a minor sensation when it was released digitally for the PSP in 2011. Now a physical version is coming out, for the 3DS — and another digital version is coming too for the PC.
Corpse Party was originally released on PC, then ported to the PSP. The US received the PSP version first, back in 2011. This will mark the first time the original version of the game gets an English translation.
These versions will also have bonuses the original 2011 release didn’t. The 3DS version will use redrawn hi-res sprites, re-rendered 3D artwork and four new bonus chapters that flesh out the story. The PC version will use the original pixel art, but contains a fast-forward feature and four bonus chapters as well(we don’t know if they’re the same ones). The 3DS version will be sold plain for $30 or in a deluxe “Back To School Edition” for $50 that comes with figurines of characters Naomi Nakashima and Seiko Shinohara, as well as a soundtrack CD.
Note that publisher XSEED has released a number of screenshots from the 3DS version of the game, but we’re told they all contain major spoilers, so….yeah, fail on their end. We chose a screenshot from the PC version for the above splash image. Corpse Party for PC comes out rather quickly on April 25; the 3DS version will not be out until sometime this summer.
