All things Final Fantasy XV were revealed last Thursday during the Final Fantasy XV Uncovered event. Cartoons, movies, a new demo and THREE flavors of releases for the game itself.
There’s the plain version (just the game), the Deluxe Edition (the game in a Steelbook case plus Kingsglaive on Blu-Ray and bonus DLC), and for the decadent, the Ultimate Collector’s Edition, which weighs in at a wallet-whopping $270. It has everything the Deluxe Edition has plus a Brotherhood Blu-Ray, the soundtrack CD, a giant action figure of Prince Noctis and an even bigger 192 page hardcover artbook. It’s only available on the Square-Enix website — or, rather, was. The box sold out in minutes. Now some of those pre-orders are being shilled on eBay for three times the original cost.
Square originally set the print run for this version of the release at just 30,000 copies, but now may be thinking about expanding that run. “The pre-orders for the Ultimate Collector’s Edition vanished in a flash, and we’ve received plenty of voices from those that weren’t able to acquire it,” said director Hajime Tabata on his Twitter account. “We are terribly sorry about that. At the moment, we’re continuing with internal coordination to see if we can somehow increase its production. We will make an announcement as soon as there’s any progress!”
In accordance, the “SOLD OUT” tag on the Collector’s Edition page has been replaced with a “WAIT LIST” button. If you want the Super Ultra Big Fat Edition and you have the cash for it, best to get in line while you can.
