I'd go with Nocturnal. She's not as much of an ass as some of the other Daedra, but she's not a self-righteous douchebag like the Aedra.

Examples:

When Karliah failed (miserably), Nocturnal didn't kill her and cut off her legs for eternity. Karliah had the opportunity to serve any other God, or choose any other path in life.

When the DB fell in that pit, how many other Daedra would have left you there to die? She didn't.

Now, I'm not saying she's a saint, but if I were to worship anyone, they better damn well deserve the worship.

And Aedra? I'd feel like a tool worshiping them.

"The gods don't do a damn thing. Do they even exist? How could anyone tell? Daedra Lords, sure. They exist. They do things. Bad things, mostly, but things you can see. The gods? They don't do a damn thing. So why do we build big chapels and sit around and mumble, and ask them to save us from this and that? It's stupid. And chapels and priests and folks groveling on their knees, they're stupid, too."

BTW: I'm not dissing anyone that would choose a different path. This is simply from my perspective.

There is no way I'd serve any of the daedra. I don't even like playing characters who serve them. Eat a priest? Murder a friend? Beat an old man to death? Screw you, Oblivion Walker Achievement! Even the neutral or nice ones annoy me a little. Put me down, Meridia!

Probably Mara because love and compassion are nice things, and I would want to serve something nice and optimistic, trying to leave the world a better place.

But certainly not Dibella. I'm way too conservative to make worshipping Dibella viable.

Dibella would be the matron of porn stars or something.

I can see it now

Preacher: Come hither and receive the blessings of Dibella

Wild Roses: That's right! Chech! *raises hands*

Preacher: Now take off your clothes

Wild Roses: o_0

I would assume that a traditionalist Nord Dragonborn would worship Kyne, it was her that gifted mortals with the power to use the Voice (although the Dragonblood itself is a gift from Akatosh, Alduin's father), and many Nords worship Kyne/Kynareth due to her link with the winds, sky, animals and weather. :)

Interestingly enough, that was pretty much my reaction in game the first time I talked to the Priestess of Dibella.
Me: "So tell me about Dibella"
Senna: Blah blah blah blah blah...and we offer instruction in the finer pleasures of life.
Me: Oh, a new dialogue option has opened about instruction. Maybe it leads to a quest. "Instruction? Where do I sign up?"
Senna: "You are lovely to look at. And I could definitely teach you a thing or two. But we aren't running classes right now."
Me: Wait...what...o_O /flees!

It was a reasonable assumption to make, alright? Practically all quests start with dialogue, finer pleasures of life can refer to a lot of things, I was new to the Elder Scrolls world, and I hadn't been to Riften or met Haelga yet!

Same. Thing. Here.

I'm new to the Elder Scroll, as well. I was like

I stole the statue, and never went back.

If you get caught in the back room, and play a female character, their dialogue alludes to even "stranger" things...

Goddess Kyne if a Warrior.

Kyne (Kiss At The End), or Kaan in the dragon language, is the Nordic goddess of the Storm, widow of Shor, Warrior-Wife, and a favored god of warriors.

Julianos, God of Wisdom and Logic if a Mage.

Valin Oakthorn

Vagabond Extraordinaire
Hircine, and here is why.

1. Should you choose to, you can totally screw him over and he doesn't care.
2. Werewolves are just amazing, yet trapped in one of the worst quest lines ever created
3. Hunting is awesome.
4. He isn't really a jerk when you do his quest
5. He's often overlooked

From what I remember, he also participates in the hunt. That is pretty cool if someone loves hunting.

Hunting Dragons, perhaps? ;)

Hircine has long blessed and defended the sacred glades of Valenwood. All Bosmer owe their loyalty to the Huntsman of Princes. Many eagerly await the day when the gates of The Hunting Grounds part and unleash the phantasmal horrors of The Wild Hunt upon those that would subjugate them..

My wood elf ranger is most definitely devoted to Hircine.

I dont see why you call aedra the "fake" gods.
The Akatosh himself came and saved the world from Mehrunes Dagon, and woped his a** :)
As a Nord I would definitely worship Kyne. Alduin if it were an option ;)
But I would never worship a daedra, damn things just want souls.

Actually, Y'ffre is the patron Bosmeri god. Hircine does relate to the hunting aspects of a Bosmer's life, but most don't "owe' anything to the guy.

Aedra and Daedra. Feh. Praise the All-Maker.

I know, You know
As dragonborn I'd worship the 8 Divines primarily Akatosh, it's thanks to him I'm Dragonborn after all.

As a common man it depends on race, occupation etc....
The Only Daedra I'd worship would be Meridia or Azura.
