Sorcia's Journal - First day Feb 20, 2012
Middas, 7:24 PM, 17th of Last Seed, 4E 201
This is my first journal entry. I found this book inside Gerdur's house after she told me I was allowed to help myself to some supplies. I'm sure she won't mind. She has already given me a Ring of Minor Squire. So... yeah...
My name is Sorcia Melie. I would rather talk my way out of a situation, but I will pull a blade on you if need be. I am a Breton woman who has come to Skyrim in hopes of finding treasure and power. I may not have training in combat, but I know my potions and poisons better than anyone else. It's how I made my living back home in Cyrodiil, selling potions out of my mother's inn. My father also taught me a thing or two about archery, so I won't be completely useless out in the wild.
Now that you know something about me, let's begin an account of my adventures in this new land.
My adventure abruptly began when the Imperial army and the Stormcloaks (of which quarrels on the political matter have made news even back home) just so happened to bump into each other. I would have been left unnoticed if it weren't for some thief in the woods trying to calm his panicked horse. Needless to say, my hiding away from a potential battle I wasn't involved in any way with got me arrested on suspicious behavior. The guards must have forgotten about that detail, because I was set up for execution as soon as I got off the cart in Helgen.
I would have been headless by now if a dragon hadn't attacked at that moment when my head was on the block. That thing was black as the night, and I truly was terrified. An imperial officer tried to keep me under control, but a Stormcloak helped me escape the keep. His name is Ralof. Ralof of Riverwood.
After we left some bear cavern that connected to Helgen Keep, we saw that dragon fly north, toward Ralof's town. He and his sister, Gerdur, have asked me to go to the Jarl of Whiterun and ask for help. I'm going to fulfill my debt to him, and set out in the morning. Hopefully, there won't be as much hysteria as I saw in that arrogant bard's mother when I arrive in Whiterun.
Oh, and a side note, I went to the Riverwood Trader after meeting with Gerdur; and they've been robbed. Oddly enough, it was only a golden claw that was stolen. An odd thing to steal, in my opinion. But the thief/thieves have been tracked to a place called Bleak Falls Barrow (Ralof showed it to me on our way to Riverwood, and it looks creepy!). I'm going to check out that old tomb after I tell the Jarl that Riverwood needs reinforcement.
On the plus side, I've managed to collect some ingredients for a few poisons I read about back home. It's exciting to be able to see these chemical processes for myself instead of just reading about them. I have yet to see a Juniper tree for myself, though.
